Inside the Deku Tree
Inside the Deku Tree is the first dungeon, in Kokiri Forest, while Link is a child. The boss is Gohma. The prize is Kokiri’s Emerald, the forest spiritual stone.
What you need before Mido moves
Mido will not let you see the Great Deku Tree until you carry the Kokiri Sword and the Deku Shield. The sword is in the forest training hole, covered on its own page. The shield is the shop buy in Kokiri Forest; I am not printing a price I did not re-copy. The dungeon itself sits in the meadow at the tree. Zelda Wiki calls this the tutorial dungeon: you learn the chest, the compass, the map, and a dungeon item.
That item is the Fairy Slingshot. The boss is Gohma, a parasite on the tree. Beating her yields Kokiri’s Emerald. Master Quest, on 3DS after the credits, rearranges this place and moves skulltulas. The 2026 remake does not include Master Quest, so do not hunt a mirrored Deku Tree on Switch 2. I have no sourced list of room-by-room remake edits for this dungeon. Forest Temple is the one the change list names. Silence here means unpublished, not “identical.”
Order context: Dodongo’s Cavern is next, then Jabu-Jabu. The walkthrough page holds that spine. Gohma’s row on the boss table is the short version of the fight; I am not pasting an attack pattern I would be recalling rather than citing.
