All 36 heart pieces
Find the 36 pieces in the standard N64 and 3DS quest. Four pieces add one heart container. Use the region, age and requirement columns to plan each trip.
Standard quest location list
The rows cover the standard dungeon layout, with Zelda Central’s regional list compared against All Things How’s child/adult route. Their route suggestions differ for the cow cage, windmill and Dodongo’s Cavern ledge: one guide describes alternate access, so the table keeps the route and age stated by Zelda Central rather than claiming one exclusive method.
The 50-token House of Skulltula reward is already one of these 36 pieces. Do not add it again. Eight boss heart containers and the three starting hearts are separate from the nine containers assembled from these pieces. These lists describe the classic standard quest; Master Quest rearranges dungeon content.

Questions
How many pieces complete the heart meter?
36 pieces make nine containers. With eight boss containers and the three starting hearts, the classic maximum is 20 hearts.
