Fishing Pond

The Fishing Pond is at Lake Hylia. The owner charges 20 rupees a session. A child prize is a heart piece. An adult prize is the Golden Scale, and the sinking lure is banned for prize fish.

Two prizes, one banned lure

The wiki’s Fishing Hole page is the rulebook I am using. Pay the Fishing Hole Man 20 rupees. As a child, beat the record for a heart piece. As an adult, beat the record by at least 4 pounds using the regular lure and you get the Golden Scale. The Sinking Lure, which people search for as a cheat, is not allowed when you are fishing for those prizes. I am not writing a “how to cheat the scale” method. The Hylian Loach is the completionist fish, not the prize that pays the heart.

The pond stays open as an adult, with a record fish on display. I have no sourced remake change to the fee or the 4-pound margin. Fire Arrows are a different Lake Hylia errand, up by the Water Temple plaque, and they do not help you cast. Wallet size matters only because 20 rupees is small unless you are somehow at zero.

If you wanted the dog in Castle Town, that is a night errand on another page. If you wanted every heart piece, this is one child prize and the list of 36 is incomplete on the wiki, which I already said on the heart-piece page.

Questions

Where is the sinking lure rule?

The wiki says the Sinking Lure cannot be used for the prize fish. I am not adding a workaround.

What does an adult win?

The Golden Scale, if the fish beats the record by at least 4 pounds on the normal lure.
