Richard, the lost dog

The dog’s name is Richard. He is a child-era, night-only errand in Castle Town. Bring him back to the Pooch Lady and the first return pays a heart piece. As an adult, he is already gone.

Night, the market, one source

Zelda Wiki’s Richard page is the only source I am using, and I am saying that in the table instead of pretending a second guide confirmed the alley. Talk to the Pooch Lady in the Castle Town market, find Richard in the back alley at night, and walk him home. The first success is a heart piece. Later returns pay a blue rupee. The exact flagstone is the part the research pass marked as needing a second source, so I will not add “behind the bombchu shop” or any other landmark I cannot cite.

Time of day matters: night. Age matters: child. After the Master Sword, the market is ruined and the wiki says Richard has died; the lady talks about him. That is a story beat, and it is why adult players cannot finish this errand. The remake opens more of Castle Town to walking. I have no note that says Richard’s alley moved.

This is not the fishing heart piece and not the Skull Kid heart piece. Those are Lake Hylia and the Lost Woods. If your search was only “where is the dog,” the answer is the market at night, child era, with the pinpoint left loose on purpose.

Questions

What time of day?

Night, and only as a child. Talk to the Pooch Lady first.

Can I do this as an adult?

No. The wiki says Richard is gone in the adult era and the lady only remembers him.
